The 1954 New Yorker Deluxe was a premium version of a standard 1950-size Chrysler body. Most famously, it was used to test the 331 cu in, Firepower Hemi V8 engine’s capabilities by outputting 235 hp . . . power that was unheard of in any other 1954 model. That year, the Deluxe had a price tag of $3,400 and was available with the new two-speed Powerflite automatic transmission. There were only 724 of these Deluxe Convertible Coupes produced in 1954.
This striking convertible has been beautifully maintained since it had a cosmetic restoration in the 90s. And it’s fully loaded with lots more power than just the engine:
*power steering
*power windows
*power convertible top
*a push-button working radio
*working clock
The five chrome wire wheels are in nice condition, as are the white top and boot. The paint and chrome are excellent, and there are dual spotlights down each side. The lush interior features red and white leather seats and red carpet that is like new but needs to be stretched. The engine turned aluminum dash is beautiful, and all the gauges are clean and function well.
This classic is truly a top-of-the-line Chrysler — a rare and beautiful example of style and power.
